Pumpkin Cinnamon Dog Treat Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup canned pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the pumpkin puree, unsweetened applesauce, and eggs until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the whole wheat flour, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until well combined and the dough forms a ball.
  5. On a floured surface, knead the dough for a few minutes until it is smooth and pliable.
  6. Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch (6 mm) thickness and cut into desired shapes using cookie cutters.
  7. Place the treats on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the treats are lightly golden and firm to the touch.
  9. Remove from the oven and allow the treats to cool completely before serving to your furry friend.

This recipe makes about 2 dozen treats, depending on the size of the cookie cutters you use. You can store the treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks or in the fridge for up to a month. Enjoy!
